We are pleased to offer more inclusive membership benefits that will build more value into your Y experience. You will have greater access to programs with your membership—without an additional cost.

 

We have updated our membership categories, including the family membership category which now includes 3 adults plus all children ages 0-26 who live at home.  For all the membership information, click here.

This low impact, low intensity water class is a great way to be introduced to the therapeutic environment that the pool has to offer while gaining flexibility and improving your overall health.

This intense aerobic class is designed to improve aerobic conditioning, muscular endurance, and flexibility while providing little to no impact on knees and hips since it is done in the water.

BELLY DANCING BODY FITNESS

Get with this low impact fitness class! BDBF is a unique workout, created by fitness entrepreneur Tricia Truax, that uses simple belly dancing moves in a way that allows you to bring out your best version of YOU through dance, fitness and fun.  With edgy Arabic rhythms and contagious tribal beats, BDBF redefines the definition of core work because of the constant movements that isolate and define the waistline.  With BDBF drills and choreography, you will not only get an amazing workout but you will leave feeling empowered and unstoppable. Come experience the passion of the mystic workout. No dance experience necessary.

BODY FITNE SSS

Get ready to Strengthen, Sculpt and Shred!  This class uses a combination of body weight exercises, barbells, free weights, and a variety of equipment designed to strengthen and sculpt the muscles. It incorporates bursts of cardio and tabata to boost the metabolism to shred those pounds. An overall body workout set to music, which varies periodically to keep you motivated. All fitness levels are welcome and the exercises can be modified to meet individual needs.

KEISER GROUP CYCLING – Come and experience group cycling at a whole new level!  The Keiser bike gives a ride closer to outside cycling and incorporates a computer that creates a training experience second to none.  Must be at least 4’11”.  Maximum enrollment per class is 12 participants  Taught by trained instructors.

KARATE WORLD TANG SOO DO

This program, operated by the Tri County Karate Academy, is open to youth, ages 5-18, and adults all year round, so you can join in any time!  If needed due to enrollment numbers, the class may operate simultaneously in separate groups to facilitate the     instruction.

POUND®

Instead of listening to music, you become the music in this exhilarating full-body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilates-inspired movements. Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND®  transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out.  Designed for all fitness levels, POUND® provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rockin’ out! The workout is easily modifiable and the alternative vibe and welcoming philosophy appeals to men and women of all ages and abilities.

Both fitness programs promote the health and well-being of Medicare beneficiaries through specialized, non-impact classes that focus on improving strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. Persons who are eligible for Medicare Part B and have supplemental insurance through either designated Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield, UMPC for Life or Geisinger Health Plans are eligible for free participation in these classes. Participants also enjoy the privileges of being a YMCA member.

TAI CHI FOR HEALTH

This is a 6-8 week exercise program that uses slow moving, meditative exercise to improve balance, posture, strength and flexibility while decreasing stress.  

STRENGTH TRAINING & FUNCTIONAL FITNESS

These classes aim at building the best structural foundation for your body to prevent pain and push you to your pinnacle; both inside and outside these walls.  Each class is a varied combination of functional movements performed at relatively high intensity, amplifying your physical and mental acuity so you can own the trail or the boardroom.  Strength Training and Functional Fitness encompasses everyday movements, focusing on speed, agility, range of motion, core strength and flexibility.  It will vary monthly so that you never sweat through the same workout from one month to the next.                                                                                                                                                      

ZUMBA®

The original Zumba® has grown as one of the most popular exercise classes on the planet. It is the perfect combo of fun and fitness which involves high-energy Latin, international and current music with dance moves and aerobic elements. This Fitness-Party can burn up to 1,000 calories.

Sat       8:00-9:00 am  

This takes Zumba to the next level. It uses that music and targets all your muscles while using toning sticks or hand weights. It is a very safe, yet effective total body sculpting workout. This class does 45 minutes of fitness and 15 minutes of toning/ab work which helps reduces body fat, contributes to strong muscles and improves your stamina.

4 on 4 team league in auxiliary gym; unlimited roster. One 22-29 yr old player allowed as per league rule. League runs December 3 – March 5.   Games on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

$150 per team, $135 if paid in full by first game played.

"College Break" 17-29 Years Old

5 on 5 team league in main gym; unlimited roster.  Current HS juniors/seniors and college allowed as per league rule. League runs for three weeks December 16 - January 2.  Games on Monday-Thursday evenings.

$70 per team, $55 if paid in full by first game played.

Mens/Womens Summer Outdoor Basketball (17 & Up)

May 20 - July 29

                         

Separate leagues for each gender if enough interest.  If not, co-ed rosters are allowed.  5 on 5 team leagues on outside courts, unlimited roster.  Games nights TBA.  If interested in placing a team or playing as an individual contact Zac Wilcox at 375-9622.

$125 per team, $100 if paid in full by first game played.

GOLF LESSONS (Teen & Adult)

Usually March-April

Thursdays 7:00-8:00 PM in Main Gym   Instructor: Dan Pisarchik

Get ready for the links indoors while it is cold outdoors. This 6-week class will be a comprehensive, thorough examination of your golf swing that will produce positive results. Through these lessons you will be able to understand your golf swing so you can manage your game effectively.  Class size: minimum of 4; maximum of 10 registrants.

PICKLEBALL (Teen & Adult)

Open play in the auxiliary gym or main gym. A court sport that combines the elements of ping-pong, tennis and badminton. Equipment is available or bring your own.

RACQUETBALL (Teen & Adult)

Open Play - Available each day during normal hours. Call to reserve a court during peak winter times especially.

 

Tournament Play - Usually held on a Saturday in February

Doubles round-robin and pool play with divisions for various competition levels.  Minimum three match guarantee.  Registration, prices and more information available in mid-January.

SWIM LESSONS

GROUP LESSONS (Classes for 6 weeks)

Swim lesson classes are designed to build confidence and endurance while being in the water.

 

There will be NO Saturday AM group or Tuesday/Thursday private lessons offered during the Spring 2, Summer 1 or Summer 2 sessions.  Group lessons resume Fall 1 session, September 14.  Registration begins for members (Aug 25);  potential members (Sept 1)

Progressive (Ages 6 & up)

Saturday: 8:30-9:30 am Advanced Levels (Adult)

One hour lessons start adults in the appropriate stage for their water skills.  Personal water safety and  basic swimming competency are taught or reviewed. Additional water safety skills and advanced stroke techniques are developed/expanded through endurance.

PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS

Swim lesson classes are designed to build confidence and endurance while being in the water through the Stages 1-6 listed below.

 

SWIM BASICS      (Recommended skills for all to have around water)           

 

Stage 1: Water Acclimation - Increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skill performed with assistance.  No water experience.

 

Stage 2: Water Movement - Encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills     performed independently. Willing to participate.

 

Stage 3: Water Stamina - Develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages.

 

SWIM STROKES      (Skills to support a healthy lifestyle)

 

Stage 4: Stroke Introduction - Introduces basic stroke techniques in front/back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke.

 

Stage 5: Stroke Development - Introduces breaststroke/butterfly and reinforces water safety through treading water longer and sidestroke.

 

Stage 6: Stroke Mechanics - Refines stroke technique on all major competitive strokes and encourages swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle.

TENNIS LESSONS (Teen - Adult)

10 yrs & up                                May 7-July 1

Group lessons at beginners and intermediate levels.  Meet on Tuesday evenings (Beginners 6-7 pm; Intermediates 7-8 pm) at DuBois City park tennis courts.  Rain alternatives: use YMCA racquetball courts/aux gym indoors. Another set of 9-week lessons is usually offered July - early September if enough interest.

4v4 format, no required # of males/females on court.  Games on Wednesdays evenings

Two League levels of play: Recreation (6v6 format); Power (4v4 format).  Required number of females on court for   Rec (2) and Power (1). Rec games played on Monday and Power games on Wednesday evenings.  Note: Depending upon # of registrations some Power League games may be on Mondays and the ending date for each league may be adjusted.
